M: Fabricius (1775), under the name Acarus undatus and given its current status in Klompen et al. (2002)

F: Neumann (1899) , under the name Aponomma decorosum , a synonym of Bothriocroton undatum

N: Koch (1867), under the name Ixodes varani , another synonym of Bothriocroton undatum

L: unknown

Redescriptions

M: Roberts (1953) and Kaufman (1972), both under the name Aponomma decorosum, Roberts (1970) and Santos Dias (1993), both under the name Aponomma undatum ; see note below

F: Neumann (1899) , Roberts (1953) and Kaufman (1972), both under the name Aponomma decorosum, Roberts (1970) and Santos Dias (1993), both under the name Aponomma undatum ; see note below

N: Roberts (1953) under the name Aponomma decorosum, Roberts (1970) under the name Aponomma undatum Note: Kaufman (1972) and Kolonin (2009) treat Bothriocroton undatum as a synonym of Aponomma decorosum ( Koch, 1867) , but the former name is valid, as demonstrated by Roberts (1964a) and Santos Dias (1993), who included these species in the genus Aponomma . Schulze (1933a) redescribed the male and nymph of Bothriocroton undatum (as Aponomma undatum ), but it is uncertain whether Schulze´s specimens are bona fide representatives of this taxon, as discussed in Guglielmone et al. (2017), and the redescriptions of Schulze (1933a) are therefore provisionally excluded from the lists above.
