Note: Camicas et al. (1998) treat Haemaphysalis danieli as an Oriental species, but Guglielmone et al. (2014) list it as an Oriental and Palearctic taxon. Kolonin (2009) suggested that Haemaphysalis xinjiangensis is a synonym of Haemaphysalis pospelovashtromae , and that ticks identified as Haemaphysalis danieli by the Chinese workers above are also Haemaphysalis pospelovashtromae , but he provided no conclusive evidence to support his view. Therefore, specimens of Haemaphysalis danieli from China are treated here as provisionally valid.
