A Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Erinaceomorpha : Erinaceidae ; adults alone have been collected from Mammalia (several orders); larvae and nymphs have been recovered from Rodentia (unknown family). There are no records of Dermacentor sinicus causing human parasitism.

Note: Guglielmone and Nava (2014) and Guglielmone et al. (2014) give 1932 as the year of description for Dermacentor sinensis , but the description was printed in 1931 ( Arthur 1960 a, Guglielmone et al. 2015). See Dermacentor asper for its proposed synonymy with Dermacentor sinicus .
