A Neotropical species whose adults are usually found on Pilosa : Myrmecophagidae , but they have also been collected from Carnivora : Canidae , Cingulata : Chlamyphoridae , and Passeriformes : Turdidae ; larvae and nymphs are frequently collected from Passeriformes (several families). Nymphs alone have been collected from Aves (several orders), while larvae alone have been found on Strigiformes : Strigidae (Guglielmone et al. 2014, Luz et al. 2016, Nava et al. 2017, Bermúdez et al. 2018, Lima et al. 2018). There are no records of Amblyomma nodosum causing human parasitism.
