An Australasian and Oriental species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Squamata (several families), with infrequent records of adults alone from Testudines : Emydidae , and Artiodactyla : Bovidae and Suidae , as well as nymphs from Rodentia : Muridae . There are no records of Amblyomma helvolum causing human parasitism.

Note: Camicas et al. (1998) state that the larva of Amblyomma helvolum is undescribed, but it was described by Kadarsan (1971). Ghosh et al. (2018) describe the male and female of supposedly eyeless Amblyomma helvolum , probably a misidentification. See also Amblyomma fimbriatum and Amblyomma hainanense for their alleged synonymy with Amblyomma helvolum .
