A Nearctic species with a few records from the Neotropical Region whose adults, nymphs and larvae have been found on Mammalia (several orders), Cuculiformes : Cuculidae , and Passeriformes : Icteridae and Mimidae . Adults and nymphs have been recovered from Artiodactyla : Tayassuidae , Carnivora : Canidae and Felidae , and Rodentia : Sciuridae ; adults alone have been taken from Carnivora : Mephitidae , Mustelidae and Procyonidae ; while nymphs alone have been found on Perissodactyla : Equidae , Galliformes : Phasianidae , and Passeriformes : Turdidae ( Gladney et al. 1977, Guglielmone et al. 2014, Medlin et al. 2015, Scott et al. 2019). This host profile is an emendation of the profile given in Guglielmone et al. (2014) and Guglielmone and Robbins (2018). Amblyomma inornatum is a rare parasite of humans.

Note: Guglielmone et al. (2003) and Guglielmone et al. (2014) suggest that this species may have been confused with related taxa, such as Amblyomma parvum and Amblyomma auricularium , or even with Amblyomma beaurepairei .
