A Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Galliformes : Phasianidae , and Passeriformes (several families); females and larvae have been collected from Strigiformes : Strigidae ; rarely, larvae have been collected from Rodentia : Muridae . Ixodes turdus is a rare parasite of humans.
