An Afrotropical, Australasian, Oriental and Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Chiroptera : Vespertilionidae and Rhinolophidae , but they have also been collected from Chiroptera : Miniopteridae with rare records of adults from Rodentia : Muridae , and larvae from Chiroptera : Pteropodidae ( Guglielmone & Robbins 2018, Michalik et al. 2020). There are no bona fide records of Ixodes simplex causing human parasitism.
