Redescriptions
M: Robinson (1926), Krijgsman and Ponto (1932), Toumanoff (1944), Anastos (1950) and Kohls (1957a), all under the name Amblyomma cyprium, Sun et al. (2016)
F: Anastos (1950) and Kohls (1957a), both under the name Amblyomma cyprium, Sun et al. (2016)
N: none
L: none
Note: Amblyomma breviscutatum is not recognized as valid in Kolonin (2009). Anastos (1950) states that the female of Amblyomma breviscutatum (as Amblyomma cyprium ) in Toumanoff (1944) is probably Amblyomma malayanum , a synonym of Amblyomma geoemydae , and Kohls (1957a, c) states that the figures of the female of Amblyomma breviscutatum in Toumanoff (1944) (as Amblyomma cyprium ) correspond to Amblyomma geoemydae . Anastos (1950) and Kohls (1957a, c) also reject the description of the female of Amblyomma breviscutatum (as Amblyomma cyprium ) in Robinson (1926). Teng and Jiang (1991) found Amblyomma testudinarium confused with Amblyomma breviscutatum (as Amblyomma cyprium ). Anastos (1950) asserts that the problems accompanying identification of the female of this species are a consequence of its inadequate definition in the original description by Neumann (1899) . See also Amblyomma babirussae for its confusion with Amblyomma breviscutatum .
