197. Ixodes rubicundus Neumann, 1904. An Afrotropical species whose adults are usually found on Artiodactyla : Bovidae ; larvae and nymphs commonly feed on Macroscelidea : Macroscelididae . All parasitic stages have been collected from Artiodactyla : Bovidae , Carnivora : Felidae , and Lagomorpha : Leporidae ; adults and nymphs have been recovered from Carnivora : Canidae and Hyaenidae ; one adult and a few larvae have been found on Passeriformes : Ploceidae ; nymphs and larvae alone have been taken from Macroscelidea : Macroscelididae , and Rodentia : Muridae and Nesomyidae ; and larvae alone have been found on Carnivora : Herpestidae , Perissodactyla : Equidae , and Passeriformes : Alaudidae . Ixodes rubicundus is a very rare parasite of humans.
