A Nearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Rodentia : Sciuridae , but they have also been found on Lagomorpha : Leporidae , Carnivora (several families) and Rodentia (several families). There are some odd records of adult ticks from Artiodactyla : Bovidae , and Galliformes : Odontophoridae . Ixodes sculptus is a rare parasite of humans.
