A Palearctic and Oriental species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Mammalia (several orders); immature stages, but rarely adult ticks, are common on Aves (several orders), and less often found on Squamata : Lacertidae . There are two records of female ticks collected from Anura : Ranidae ; and unknown stages have been found on Squamata : Viperidae . Ixodes persulcatus is a very frequent parasite of humans.
