A Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Aves (several orders), Carnivora : Procyonidae ; Lagomorpha : Leporidae , Rodentia : Cricetidae , Muridae and Sciuridae , and Soricomorpha : Soricidae . Adults and nymphs have been found on Carnivora : Canidae ; adults alone have been collected from Erinaceomorpha : Erinaceidae , and Artiodactyla : Bovidae ; larvae and nymphs have been recovered from Lagomorpha : Ochotonidae , and Rodentia : Dipodidae ( Guglielmone & Robbins 2018, Torii et al. 2019). Ixodes pavlovskyi is a frequent parasite of humans.

Note: Filippova and Panova (1998) found differences in the size and proportions of several morphological structures and consequently split this species into two subspecies: Ixodes pavlovskyi pavlovskyi and Ixodes pavlovskyi occidentalis , forms that may, in fact, represent different species.
