Note: Chilton (1904) allegedly described the male of Ixodes anatis , but the specimens used for its description were recognized as nymphs by Nuttall (1916). Camicas et al. (1998) list the larva of Ixodes anatis (as a synonym of Scaphixodes apteridis ) as undescribed, but this stage was described in Dumbleton (1953). Heath and Kwak (2019) discovered lost type material of Ixodes anatis and designated a lectotype for this species.
