A Neotropical species known from a female found on Passeriformes : Mimidae , while larvae have been collected from Passeriformes : Turdidae . There are no records of Ixodes copei causing human parasitism.

Note: Ixodes copei is a Neotropical tick morphologically close to Ixodes brunneus , but other as yet undescribed species in this group probably occur in the Neotropics.
