Distribution. Central part of N. Turkey: Çorum, Amasya, Tokat, Samsun provinces ( Fig. 846 View FIGURE 846 ).

Description of male: Body ( Fig. 705 View FIGURES 695 – 708 ) slender, compressed laterally. Fastigium of vertex ( Fig. 601 View FIGURES 584 – 610 ) short and wide, slightly depressed and sloping. Frontal ridge slightly narrowed just below the median ocellus. Vertex ( Fig. 601 View FIGURES 584 – 610 ) narrow, 1.3 times narrower than vertical diameter and very slightly narrower than transversal diameter of eye; supraocular foveola distinct, open type, semiclosed in some males; median carinula long and grooved; convex in lateral view. Antennae with 12 segments. Pronotum ( Figs. 601 View FIGURES 584 – 610 , 705 View FIGURES 695 – 708 ) compressed laterally, roof-shaped; lateral carinae weak, more distinct in metazona of some males; median carina slightly raised, with distinct longitudinal sulcus, wider in anterior part; slightly convex or straight in lateral view. Anterior margin of prosternum raised collar-like with a blunt median projection, in some males tridentate or tongue-shaped but never sharply pointed. Mesosternal interspace 2.2 times wider than its length and clearly narrower than mesosternal lobes. Hind femur ( Fig. 705 View FIGURES 695 – 708 ) 2.6 times longer than its height, proximal part widened and sharply narrowing towards genicular lobes, dorsal margin straight in proximal part, then sloping backwards, finelly serrated; ventral margin convex. Hind tibia with 9 inner, 9–11 outer spines. Abdominal tergites ( Fig. 705 View FIGURES 695 – 708 ) simple; median carina very slightly raised, not protruded posteriorly. Mesonotum and metanotum with grooved median carinae. Tympanum absent. Arch of zygoma narrow; posterior lobes of zygoma relatively short and narrow; apodemes narrow with distinct apical notch; pseudolophi separated with 10–13 spines.

Coloration. Body brown with many small cream and black spots. Ventral half of head, fore and mid legs and antenna light brown; dorsal surface of head blackened except the cream basal part of median carinula of vertex. Pronotum with small cream and black tubercles; typical light band on paranota creamish-brown. Typical light band on abdomen distinct; lateral surface of abdomen dark brown. Outer surfaces of hind femur and tibia light creamishbrown with small dark spots; inner and ventral surfaces of hind femur blackened, dorsal margin of inner surface body color. Inner surface and inner half of dorsal surface of hind tibia orange, turning to reddish-orange apically with black tipped spines, outer half of dorsal surface yellow with outer spines, in one male tibia yellow without orange. Tarsus reddish-orange. Sternites light brownish-cream or yellowish-cream; anterior margins of abdominal sternites and subgenital plate with a distinct brown band transversally.

Measurements (mm) of both sexes. body length: male 21–23.8, female 36–37.8; pronotum length: male 4.6– 4.9, female 7.1–8.2; pronotum height: male 4.8–5.3, female 8.5–9.6; pronotum width anterior: male 4.3–4.5, female 6.7–7.2; pronotum width posterior: male 5.9–6.4, female 9.6–10.6; hind femur length: male 8.6–9, female 12.4–14.5; hind femur height: male 3.3–3.7, female 4.7–5.2.

Remarks. Ramme (1951: 301) described a new form N. bodenheimeri f. flavipes which is undoubtedly conspecific with N. sabulosus by the orange or yellow hind tibia, the compressed body laterally, the roof-shaped pronotum without or with weak lateral carinae, some of which are the reasons of its placement in the N. tridentatus sp. group while N. bodenheimeri Uvarov is placed in another species group (see the key).

Demirsoy (1973, 1977) cited this species as “( Ramme 1951: 304)” with its type locality “ Çorum ” for two taxa, Paranocaracris citripes sabulosa Ramme ( Demirsoy 1973: 423; 1977: 79) and Paranocaracris rubripes burri f. acarinata ( Demirsoy 1973: 426; 1977: 83). While the Çorum population belongs to N. sabulosus , the specimens from Ilgaz Dağı belong to Nocararis niethammeri Ramme, 1951 .

The previously unknown male is described here.

According to the ICZN (Articles 31.2, 34.2) the species name of this taxon is combined.
