Distribution. W. Turkey: İzmir: Bozdağ, Denizli: Babadağ ( Fig. 843 View FIGURE 843 ).

Remarks. Mistshenko (1951a: 520) described this species from one male from Anatolia without exact locality. Demirsoy (1973: 414; 1977: 66) recorded and described one female from Ersis, Artvin province in N.E . Turkey. According to Salman (1978: 66) the female recorded by Demirsoy is a nymph of Paranocaracris elegans Mistshenko and thereby Oronothrotes furvus might be a synonym of P. elegans . Both authors assumed that Oronothrotes furvus is found in the northeastern end of Turkey. On the other hand Ramme (1951: 300) described Nocaracris burri obscurata Ramme, 1951 with both sexes from Bozdağ, İzmir Province, W . Turkey. The study on the type material of N. burri obscurata in the NHMUK allowed to ascertain that it is certainly conspecific with Oronothrotes furvus . Thus the exact location of this species appeares to be in the western end of Turkey, contrary to previous expectations. Mistshenko (1951a) has the priority over Ramme (1951) (see Material methods). There are several specimens in the NMW (see Material examined) collected by Lederer from Bozdağ , İzmir. Very probably the holotype of this species collected by Lederer ( ZIN) was also found in Bozdağ , İzmir. Moreover I have collected the typical forms of this species from Bozdağ. Therefore I propose the type locality of this species is Bozdağ, in İzmir Province of Turkey .

Nocaracris burri obscurata Ramme, 1951 was overlooked by Demirsoy (1973, 1977) and Presa & Garcia (1983). Although no author published this subspecies as “ Paranocaracris rubripes obscurata ( Ramme, 1951) ” Eades et al. (2016) gave it in this combination.

Ramme (1951) in describing N. burri obscurata did not mention its tympanum despite the type specimens have distinct tympanum. He distinguished it from N. burri View in CoL by the coloration.

One male from Amasya agrees with this species, it is impossible to be in Amasya province, the label must be mistakenly attached (see also the Remarks sections of P. straubei and N. burri ).
