Type host: Merops apiaster Linnaeus (Coraciifomes: Meropidae ) from Rwanda.
Diagnosis. Palp tarsus with 3 setae (2 setae Be-type and 1 Bp-type) and solenidion. Sensillae si SD-type, c1, c2 and all hysteronotal setae Na-type. Ventral idiosomal setae (including coxae) Bd-type.
Host and distribution. Coraciifomes ( Meropidae ): MerOps apiaster Linnaeus from Rwanda [Southern Prov., Butare and Akanyaru] ( Fain 1955b, 1956a, 1956c; present study).
Non-African host and distribution. Meropidae : MerOps Ornatus Latham from Australia ( Domrow 1966).
New material examined. Four females and 2 larvae from MerOps apiaster ( Coraciiformes : Meropidae ), RWANDA: Southern Province, Akanyaru, October 1955, coll. A. Fain; specimens deposited in the RBINS.
