Orangeburg Co., Orangeburg, 11 August 1998, ex Sciurus carolinensis Gmelin , coll. S. Miller; Pickens Co., Pendleton Road, 1 May 2004, ex S. carolinensis , coll. M.P. Nelder.
All enderleinellids are ectoparasites of Sciuridae ( Durden & Musser 1994) . Enderleinellus longiceps is a specific ectoparasite of Sciurus niger Linnaeus and S. carolinensis . Our collection represents a new state record, but this louse has been reported in the nearby states of Georgia and Tennessee ( Kim et al. 1986; Durden et al. 1997).
