Florence Co., Florence, September 1949, ex Bos taurus , coll. M.D. Farrar.
Haematopinus quadripertusus was intercepted on a shipment of 100 head of cattle from Florida. The cattle tail louse, H. quadripertusus , is primarily restricted to tropical and subtropical regions and was previously unreported in South Carolina. Kim et al. (1986) reported US records only from Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and Puerto Rico.
