Our collection records indicate that this louse infests pigs in all regions of the state. Haematopinus suis has also been reported in the nearby states of Georgia and Tennessee ( Kim et al. 1986; Durden et al. 1997). Haematopinus suis is the largest louse of domestic animals and is found on both domestic and feral pigs. Haematopinus suis can transmit the causative agent of swine pox (Durden 2002) and was implicated as a vector of Eperythrozoon parvum ( Marchette, 1982) .
