Hoplopleura hesperomydis (Osborn)

Sumter Co., Poinsett State Park, 16 January 1995, 14 April 1995, 11 and 12 February 1995, ex Peromyscus gossypinus (Le Conte) , coll. K.L. Clark.

Hoplopleura hesperomydis is an ectoparasite of Peromyscus spp. and Ochrotomys nuttalli (Harlan) ( Durden & Musser 1994) . Kim et al. (1986) reported a single collection of H. hesperomydis from Bull’s Island, South Carolina, but Bull's Island was probably a misspelling of Bull Island.
