First included species: Conops testacea Linnaeus, 1767 ( Stomoxoides listed in synonymy with this species); Sicus ferrugineus Scopoli, 1763 (listed in synonymy with Conops testacea Linnaeus, 1767 ) [in Linnaeus (1767b: 1006)].

Type species: Conops ferrugineus Linnaeus, 1761 (fixed herein by Article 70.3).

Current status: Junior synonym of Sicus Scopoli, 1763 .
