Diagnosis. Recognized by the following combination of characters: head and mesosoma sparsely punctate, anterior face of pronotum sparsely punctate and distinctly separated from dorsal face, tegula micropunctate and shiny, metanotum without an anterior face and with transverse carina slightly produced at extreme sides, propodeum slightly convex above but without an horizontal face, T1 short and robust, 1.4× as long as wide, S2 as long as T 2 in lateral view, apical margin of T3 simple.

Material examined. HOLOTYPE: ♀, labeled “ MADAGASKAR / Prov. Mahajanga / Katsepy / 30. 5.-3. 6. 1995 MADL // Cyrtolabulus / sollicitus (G.S.) ♀ / J.Gusenleitner,det.1995 // Cyrtolabulus flavorufus / HOLOTYPE ♀ / Det. Marco Selis // NHMW” ( NHMW).

Description. Female holotype. Body length 6.0 mm; fore wing length 4.2 mm.

Head 1.25× as wide as long in frontal view. Clypeus 1.15× as wide as long in frontal view, apical margin lamellate and weakly reflexed, subtruncate and as wide as interantennal distance, 0.3× as wide as width of clypeus, apical angles obtuse and shortly carinate; clypeus in lateral view strongly convex, weakly depressed apically. Interantennal space rounded, with a small and shallow tubercle above. Distance from posterior ocellus to occipital margin 1.25× as long as the distance from posterior ocellus to inner eye margin; vertex in lateral view evenly and strongly convex, posterior margin placed below level of upper eye margin. Gena 0.8× as wide as eye at bottom of ocular sinus; occipital carina complete, strong and lamellate on gena, low and crenate on vertex. F1 0.9× as long as wide and 0.9× as long as F2; F2–F8 distinctly wider than long, becoming proportionally shorter; F9 subquadrate. Mandible short and robust, first three teeth triangular and pointed, fourth and fifth fused in a subquadrate cutting edge. Mesosoma in dorsal view 1.45× as long as wide; dorsally depressed in lateral view. Pronotum in dorsal view parallel-sided; pronotal carina incomplete, absent in median third of dorsal face and below humeri, strong and very shortly lamellate on lateral thirds; humeri sharply right-angled in dorsal view; dorsal and anterior faces of pronotum distinctly separated for entire length. Mesoscutum very weakly convex in lateral view. Scutellum barely convex, much wider than long; axillary fossa small but circular. Metanotum angled in lateral view, but without a distinct anterior face in dorsal view; transverse carina sharp and strong, nearly touching scutellum medially, produced in small lobes on sides. Tegula with strongly convex outer margin, maximum width near middle, posterior lobe obtuse with apex equaling parategula and posterior margin partly exceeding it; parategula weakly curved in dorsal view, compressed on sides, and appearing as vertical thick lamella. Mesepisternum with a very short vertical carina originating from lower apex of epimeron; epicnemial carina absent. Propodeum nearly vertical in lateral view, weakly convex above; dorsal faces weakly convex and strongly sloping toward valvulae, barely touching medially and not forming a shelf behind metanotum; lateral face very weakly depressed, strongly margined above; posterior face convex above and then steeply passing into preapical deep depression; submarginal carina forming long and sharp weakly diverging spines above valvulae, outer margin lamellate. T 1 in dorsal view 1.4× as long as apically wide, sides strongly diverging in basal fifth, then less markedly diverging, transition between the two parts marked by a fine transverse ridge; apical margin weakly swollen and preceded by a shallow transverse furrow; T 1 in lateral view abruptly expanded at extreme base, then of regular height except for preapical furrow. S1 triangular with a long and very narrow basal stalk. T2 about as long as wide in dorsal view, sides strongly convex basally, then more or less parallel; strongly convex basally then flattened in lateral view; apical margin with a long lamella preceded by a shallow thickening of tergite and a series of elongate punctures. S2 more strongly and evenly convex than respective tergite, basal slope with a wide and shallow depression, apical margin lamellate like T2 but lamella preceded by a shallower bulge.

Clypeus shiny, densely punctate in basal half and sides of apical half, basal half with large punctures, apical half more finely punctate. Head and mesosoma densely and deeply punctate, interspaces shiny and convex, up to half as long as puncture diameter, punctures larger on mesosoma than on head; punctures sparser on gena and reaching up to one puncture diameter in width. Anterior face of pronotum with scattered punctures, denser on sides. Metanotum with scattered punctures, impunctate medially. Mesepisternum with flattened interspaces more variable in size; epicnemium shagreened with scattered deep punctures; metaepisternum finely micropunctate with scattered punctures, upper plate strongly striate. Tegula micropunctate and shiny, with few scattered punctures barely larger than micropunctures. Dorsal face of propodeum with deep punctures separated by about their diameter, interspaces micropunctate and weakly shiny; posterior depression mostly smooth and shiny, with some transverse striae in the middle; lateral face shiny and microscopically striate, with scattered deep punctures along dorsal margin. T1 with coarse and deep oblique punctures, larger and denser basally and becoming progressively finer and sparser apically, interspaces micropunctate; basal sloping area and swollen apical margin impunctate. T2 densely and deeply punctate, interspaces densely micropunctate and at most as long as puncture diameter; apical lamella preceded by a series of dense coarse punctures. T3–T4 with small coarse punctures, becoming progressively sparser and finer. T5–T6 finely shagreened, T5 with very few fine punctures. S1 mostly smooth and shiny, with deep oblique punctures in the middle and along posterior margin of enlarged part. S2–6 sculpted similar to respective tergites but punctures sparser. Whole body with white-silvery pubescence, denser on clypeus, gena, mesepisternum and part of propodeum; erect short setae on head, pronotum and S1–S6.

Red with darker bottom of punctures; red pattern paler on clypeus, lower part of frons, gena, mesepisternum, dorsal face of propodeum and sides of T1–T2; T3–T6 and S3–S6 pale ferruginous; following parts pale yellow: basal angles of clypeus, basal spot on lower face of scape, anterior and humeral margin of pronotum, irregular band on posterior half of scutellum, apex of posterior lobe of tegula, projection of submarginal carina, narrow apical margin of T1–T2 and S2. Wings weakly infuscate, more markedly along anterior margin.

Male. Unknown.

Distribution. Madagascar: Mahajanga ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 ).

Etymology. The specific name is in reference to the yellow and red color pattern of this species.
