Type materials (2, MNHN): Bruchus trinotatocollis: Not studied, deposited in MNHN with locality Costa Rica. Bruchus diversicollis : Lectotype male with labels: “Cayenne” “n sp”, “ type ” “ Holotype ” “ diversicollis n sp” “G118” “ Bruchus diversicollis / Pic / det / J. M. Kingsover ” “ Sennius trinotaticollis / (Pic, 1930) / det J.H. Viana 2014” “ Lectotype / Bruchus diversicollis Pic, 1930 / design. J. H. Viana ”.
Remarks. The recognition of Sennius trinotaticollis was based on Viana & Ribeiro-Costa (2013b), and the homotype determined by J. M. Kingsolver in 1971 deposited at MNHN.
Bruchus diversicollis (NEW SYNONYM) is here synonomized with Bruchus trinotaticollis . Both names were proposed by Pic in the same work, so I prioritize Bruchus trinotaticollis since this name is more common in literature (Principle of the First Reviser, article 24.2 of the ICZN 1999). In the original description, Pic does not indicate the number of specimens studied, however one specimen was received from MNHN with location data identical to what is given in the original description, Cayenne. This specimen is here considered as a lectotype of B. diversicollis .
