Trichomyrmex mayri has been successfully introduced to many regions of the tropics but has less invasion capability compared to T. destructor ( BOLTON, 1987) View in CoL . Trichomyrmex mayri covers a broad range of habitats which include desert, agricultural area, wild, urban/disturbed area and pristine environment ( SHARAF et al., 2016). Trichomyrmex mayri looks so much like T. destructor View in CoL but the distinguishing difference is that the former has uniformity in body colour (its colour could either be brown or black) while the later has a bicoloured body (the head mesosoma, petiole and postpetiole are yellow to brown yellow while the gaster is dark brown) ( SHARAF et al., 2016).
