Type. Ceylon ( Sri Lanka) ( ZMUC) .

Diagnosis. Medium-sized, oval; 5.2 mm in length; 2.7 mm in width; derm piceous; rostrum longer than half as long as body, lacks dorsal median carina; antennal club not as long as funicular segments 4–7; thoracic disc with large punctures, basolateral macula of cretaceous scales and ventromedial macula of broad, clavate, cretaceous scales; mesosternal intercoxal process prominent; scutellum large, as long as broad, clothed with cretaceous scales; elytra with cretaceous fascia on base continuous with vitta on interval 1 to midpoint then becoming fascia from interval 1–10 forming back to back ‘‘C’’, vitta then extending down interval 1 to apex; crosshatched setae long, fuscous; hind femur with prominent proximolateral sulcus, tooth medium; pro- and mesouncus large, longer than tarsal claw, metauncus small-sized; sternite 1 longer than 2 behind coxal cavity. Genitalia: median lobe of aedaegus figure 7 and spermatheca figure 25 in Pajni and Singh (1986).

Distribution. China: Fujian Province, Shaowu, BPBM one specimen; two specimens in BMNH labeled China; India: Calcutta, Bengal; Sri Lanka.

Remarks. This species is similar to a number of taxa. Curculio x -pallidum (Heller) has two well defined anterior and posterior white fascia, black scutellum, white scales that are shorter and more clavate than in C. c -album and the hind femur exceeds apex of the abdomen. Curculio c -album has narrow elongate white scales, white scaled scutellum, and hind femur reaches apex of abdomen.
