In this species group, the brownish black mid-cell spot, the whitish discal spot and the brown edged posterodistal spot are present on the upperside of the forewing. The stellate discal spot and the pale brown edged posterodistal spot are present on the upperside of the hind wing. The brown patches are often on the lower angle of the cell on the upperside of the forewing. In the male, the eighth tergite is often rectangular; the posterior margin of the eighth sternite is broad and often concave at middle; the uncus is bifurcate, each branch with two forks, the outer forks generally stronger; the socii are small and digitiform; the anellus is well developed, usually strongly sclerotized dorsally and forming a variously shaped plate; the valva is long and arcuate, often bent upwards; the cornuti are a spinose band at the middle of the vesica and a small short spine cluster at the posterior end of the aedeagus. In the female, the dorsal lobes of the ostial segment are small.
