Habitat and Biology: This is an adventive, cosmopolitan, but locally common species that is thought to feed on decaying plant matter. They are strongly attracted to fermented products as evidenced by the numerous specimens collected around breweries, beer gardens and by Lindgren funnel traps baited with ethanol. Their life cycle and exact distribution remain poorly known.
