Diagnosis. distinguishable from the other species in the group by the following combination of characteristics: males ’ cephalic carina longer than wideı emarginated at apex producing two tubercles (as in D. fissus of the same group); anterior and posterior portion of the pronotum lacking distinct punctuation (at most some fineı sparse punctures as in D. seag of the same group); males ’ pronotal disc with a pair of acute tubercles at anterior portion; pronotal lateral borders almost completely smooth – except for a slightly irregular portion near medio-lateral pronotal pit and elytra lacking distinct microsculpture.

Redescription. Colour: blackı shinyı with a brown sheen near the elytral base. Head: fronto-clypeal and genal surface smooth. Inter-ocular surface with fine punctures. Gena borders slightly curved inwards. Cephalic carina longer than wideı emarginate and producing two tubercles at the apex. Pronotum: lateral borders slightly irregular near the median lateral pronotal pit – rest of it smooth. Pronotal disc shinyı having a few spaced fine punctures and delimited anteriorly by a pair of acute tubercles. Anterior portionı including excavation and anterior angles with very few and inconspicuous sparse punctures. Posterior margin lacking punctuation. Metasternum: sides and anterior portion of anterior lobe covered by dense red setaeı setigerous punctures equally spacedı where present. Elytra: striae weakly impressed with weak punctures. Punctures separated by twice their diameter. Interstriae flatı lacking microsculpture. Abdomen: glabrousı punctuation of the anterior margin of the ventrites interrupted medially. Aedeagus ( Figure 21 View Figure 21 (f-h)): parameraı apexes dorsally roundedı convergent; longitudinal excavation present taking more than 2/3 of the paramera length; basal excavation absent. Laterallyı abrupt declivity towards the apex. Ventrallyı subgenital plate rounded at the base and strongly emarginated at apex.

Morphological variation. males BL: 21 – 22 mmı PW: 12 mm. Females BL 18 – 20 mmı PW: 10 – 12 mm. Females distinguishable from males as follows: Head: fronto-clypeal surface transversely wrinkled. Cephalic carina very lowı producing two small tubercles. Pronotum: punctuation coarser than on males but following same distribution pattern. Elytra: striae deeply impressedı punctures separated by twice their diameter. Abdomen: sixth ventrite bearing a pair of triangular projections reaching the apical margin of the pygidium ( Figure 7 View Figure 7 (b)).

Distribution. Macası West Equador (type-locality)ı Peru (Junín) and Colombia (Caquetá) ( Figure 17 View Figure 17 ).
