3.11.: Dichotomius (Cephagonus) candango View in CoL new species

( Figure 35 View Figure 35 (f-i))

Diagnosis. this species is separated from other in the group by the following combined characters: clypeo-genal angulation obtuse (120³) (as D. fissus , D. spadiceus and D. ascanius ); pronotal disc having a central-rounded lobe on the anterior portion of disc (as D. barbarae ); pronotum with coarse deeply impressed punctures along the anterior e posterior margin (as D. darwini , D. filgueirasi and D. ingens ); cephalic horn rounded at apex (as D. bicuspis ); paramera with parallel-rounded apexes (as D. reichei ) and paramera (on lateral view) with inferior margin smoothı lacking emarginations near the junction with phalobasis.

HOLOTYPE (male): BRASIL: Distrito Federal. Brasília. Reserva IBGE. 15³54 ’ Sı 47³51 ʹ Wı 1150 m. Cerrado s. str. L 1P 4. FIT. 09-xii-1998. M Milhomem [at CEMT ].

Description. colour: blackı shiny. Head: dorsal surface smooth except for ocellate punctures posterior to cephalic horn. Gena borders slightly curved inward. Clypeo-genal junction obtuse (120³). Cephalic carina conical rounded at apex. Pronotum: borders smoothı not serratedı flattened at sides. Ocellate punctures evenly spaced present at anterior portion. Posterior margin bearing two to three rows of ocellate punctures. Pronotal disc smoothı shinyı lacking punctures and having a central lobe on the anterior portion of disc. Metasternum: sides and margins of anterior lobe with setigerous punctures. Anterior portion of anterior lobe glabrous with chagrinated microsculpture. Setigerous punctures equally spaced at sides. Elytra: striae deeply impressed having very fine punctures (never larger than striae) spaced 3-four times their diameter. Interstriae convex. Interstriae disc lacking microsculpture with very fine punctures (20 x). Abdomen: sides of each ventrite excavated with many ocellate punctures concentrated at sides. Some of these punctures with very short and scattered hair. Puncture of each ventrite interrupted medially as well as groove along the posterior margin of sixth ventrite. Aedeagus ( Figure 35 View Figure 35 (g-i)): Dorsallyı paramere apexes truncatedı parallel. Longitudinal excavation taking 2/3 of paramera longitudinal length; basal excavations rounded. Laterallyı subtle declivity from basis towards apex; posterior margin smoothı at most slightly sinuated and lacking emarginations near the junction with phalobasis. Ventrallyı each paramera bearing a transversal basal groove. Subgenital plate emarginated both apically and basally.
