Diagnosis: T. kikaelekea is similar to T. apatela superficially and behaviorally, but in the former the wings are less strongly reduced and the male sacculus is much longer and narrower. T. kikaelekea has very similar male genitalia to T. epicapna , but T. kikaelekea is brachypterous whereas T. epicapna is macropterous ( Medeiros 2008).

Flight period: At least May–September.
Distribution: Hawaii Island.
