Type Locality: Paraguay, Boqueron Prov., N Chaco.

Vernacular Names: Black-backed Tuco-tuco.

Distribution: Paraguay, west of the River of Paraguay in the N Chaco.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: The dubious taxonomic history of this taxon was discussed by Contreras and Roig (1991).
