The family Coelostomidiidae in the Neotropical region

Four coelostomidiid genera, Cryptokermes , Mimosicerya , Neocoelostoma and Paracoelostoma presently are known from the Neotropical area, each with a single species: (i) Cryptokermes Hempel ( C. brasiliensis Hempel from Brazil); (ii) Mimosicerya Cockerell ( M. hempeli (Cockerell) from Brazil); (iii) Neocoelostoma Hempel ( N. xerophila Hempel , the most widespread species in this family in South America, collected in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay; and (iv) Paracoelostoma Morrison ( P. peruviana Morrison from Peru).
