Description. Female. Holotype. Length, 1.13 mm (excluding ovipositor). Head mostly orange with mouth margin brown. Antenna with radicle dark brown; scape dark brown with a white subapical band and ventrally slightly paler; pedicel and flagellum more or less concolorous but pedicel and funicle (except F1) ventrally yellow. Pronotum dark brown, laterally orange; mesoscutum orange with anterior margin dark brown; scutellum mostly orange but medially and on sides brown; metanotum and propodeum brown; mesopleuron orange. Wings hyaline with venation brown. Legs mostly yellowish white, except dorsal margin of fore coxa, mid and hind coxae, dorsal and ventral margins of fore femur brown, and last tarsal segments dark brown. Metasoma brown.

Head. Frontovertex 0.39× head width, with fine rugose to coriaceous sculpture; ocelli forming an angle of about 85°; posterior ocellus closer to occipital margin than to eye margin; eye reaching occipital margin; head, in frontal view ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 7. A ), slightly (1.09×) wider than high; antennal torulus with its dorsal margin about level with lower eye margin and separated from mouth margin by about 0.13× its own height; antennal scrobes moderately deep; malar sulcus distinct; clypeal margin more or less straight. Antennal scape ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 7. A ) strongly broadened and flattened, 2× as long as broad; pedicel clearly longer than wide, 1.87× as long as broad, 2× as long as F1; all funicle segments subquadrate; clava 2.54× as long as broad, longer than preceding three funicle segments combined; funicle with linear sensilla on F2–F6. Measurements (ìm): HH, 347; HW, 376; FV, 149; OD, 26; POL, 41; OOL, 21; OCL, 13; AOL, 26; EL, 267; MS, 99; length and (width)—radicle, 48 (19); scape, 173 (86); pedicel, 67 (36); F1, 34 (30); F2, 41 (37); F3, 41 (41); F4, 41 (38); F5, 48 (46); F6, 46 (49); clava, 164 (65).

Mesosoma ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 – 7. A ) dorsally with fine sculpture as on frontovertex, but more regular; sculpture on scutellum a little deeper than that on mesoscutum; posterior margin of pronotum broadly concave; scutellum 1.1× as wide as long, and 1.05× as long as mesoscutum. Fore wing ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 7. A ) 2.48× as long as broad; filum spinosum present; linea calva interrupted by 4 rows of setae and closed posteriorly by 3 rows of setae; costal cell narrow, about 2× as wide as submarginal vein and 21× as long as broad, ventrally with two complete lines of setae; stigmal vein as long as marginal and postmarginal veins combined; hind wing ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1 – 7. A ) 4.18× as long as broad. Length of mid tibial spur 0.25× of mid tibia and a little shorter than corresponding basitarsus. Measurements (µm): FWL, 980; FWW, 396; SMV, 406; MV, 46; PMV, 22; SV, 67; HWL, 703; HWW, 168; MT, 406; mid tibial spur, 101; mid basitarsus, 108.

Metasoma ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 7. A ) 1.41× as long as mesosoma; ovipositor distinctly exserted, the exserted part 0.89× as long as mid tibial spur. Measurements (ìm): OL, 406; GL, 120; LTL, 515; LTW, 297.[MT, 406]

Male. Color is similar to that of female except ocellar area, mesosoma and metasoma a little darker; legs orange with tarsi brownish apically and mid tibia with an apical brown band.

Antenna ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 8 – 12. A ) with scape about 3× as long as broad, all funicle segments much longer than broad, F1 the longest; longest flagellar setae a little more than twice as long as diameter of corresponding segments; scale-like sensilla ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 8 – 12. A ) present on F6 and clava; antennal torulus with lower margin well above lower margin of eye and separated from mouth margin by about 1.6× its own height; frontovertex nearly ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8 – 12. A ) 0.6× head width. Fore wing ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 8 – 12. A ) 2.35× as long as broad, costal cell ventrally with three lines of setae, and filum spinosum absent. Metasoma about as long as mesosoma; phallobase ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 8 – 12. A ) without digiti; aedeagus about 0.76× as long as mid tibia. Otherwise similar to female.

Variation. Length of female, excluding ovipositor, varies from 0.95–1.13 mm, otherwise very little in material available.

Host. Unknown.

Etymology. The specific name refers to the relatively short, subquadrate funicular segments of female antenna.

Comments. This species is similar to Anagyrus brevicornis (Shamim & Shafee) (see Noyes & Hayat 1994) in the presence of filum spinosum, relatively shorter and subquadrate funicle segments and brown clava in female. However, it can be easily separated from A. brevicornis by its concolorous flagellum (bicolorous in A. brevicornis ), dark brown pedicel (white in A. brevicornis ), uniformly pubescent fore wing (with a strong, very distinctive pattern of dark and pale setae in A. brevicornis ).

It is also probably close to A. hippocoon Trjapitzin and A. aquilonaris (Noyes & Hayat) , all species having a filum spinosum in females on the fore wing, but differs in general habitus, relatively short and concolorous funicle (much longer and bicolorous in A. hippocoon and A. aquilonaris ), and hyaline fore wing (infuscate in A. hippocoon and A. aquilonaris ).
