For illustrations of Passovia myrsinites View in CoL , see Eichler (1868: Tab. 19, fig. 10), Rizzini (1978: 26, fig. 42) and Kuijt (1991: 287, figs. 9–15; 2003: 170, fig. 1).

The species occur in Brazil (States of Amazonas, Amapá and Pará), French Guiana, Guiana, Surinam and Venezuela, growing in savannas, capoeiras, forest gaps with sandy-clay soil, and in shrubby campinas.

The holotype and isotype of Oryctina atrolineata present the typical inflorescence morphology of Passovia myrsinites , as well as stellate fiber bundles and sclereids, as recorded by Kuijt & Lye (2005: fig. 5f). Moreover, one of the paratypes Pipoly & Godfrey 7388, was identified as Oryctina myrsinites by Kuijt (1991).
