Emphytopsis lii Wei , sp. nov. (Fig. 6)
Description: Holotype: Ƥ.
Body length 8.5 mm. Yellow brown; following parts black: a large and broad triangular frontal spot, postocellar area mostly (Fig. 6b), apex of mandible, obscure stripe on dorsal part of hind orbit, scape and pedicellum, lateral stripe on pronotum, propleuron largely, broad elliptical spot on prescutum, one large elongated and a connected small round spot on each lobe of scutum, centre of mesopostnotum, small spot outside of cenchrus, a pair of narrow stripes on posterior part of metapostnotum, ventral side of mesepisternum, mesepimeron except for upper corner, metapleuron largely (Fig. 6e), first abdominal tergite except for middle blotch, a pair of narrow stripes on second abdominal tergite, a pair of broad and quadrate spots on tergites 3–8 which extend to ventral side of abdomen (Fig. 6f), ovipositor sheath largely; antennal flagellum reddish brown; distance between two black spots on tergites 1–5 about 1.5× diameter of middle ocellus. Legs yellow brown, apical 0.7 of hind femur and apical 0.3 of hind tibia black. Body hairs silver. Wings subhyaline, slightly and evenly infuscate, basal third and extreme apex of vein C, basal half of stigma yellow brown, apical half of stigma and other veins black (Fig. 6a).
Clypeus densely punctured, shiny; middle fovea and ocellar area microsculptured, frons, postocellar area and lower parts of inner orbits shallowly and sparsely punctured, head otherwise glossy; mesonotum sparsely, shallowly punctured on black area, mesoscutellum and posttergite densely and shallowly punctured; parapsis microsculptured, metascutellum densely microsculptured, metanotum otherwise glossy; mesepisternum densely and shallowly punctured on upper half and moderately punctured in lower half; mesepimeron finely microsculptured, metapleuron densely microsculptured; abdominal tergites impunctate, feebly coriaceous, shiny.
FIGURE 6. Emphytopsis lii Wei , sp. nov. a. Adult female; b. Head, dorsal view; c. Clypeus and labrum; d. Antenna; e. Mesopleuron; f. Abdomen, lateral view; g. Ovipositor sheath, lateral view; h. 8th–9th serrulae.
Anterior margin of labrum triangularly protruding (Fig. 6c); anterior margin of clypeus incised to 0.4× clypeus length (Fig. 6c); malar space 0.9× diameter of middle ocellus; shortest distance between eyes 1.22× height of eye; POL: OOL: OCL = 10: 22: 23; postocellar area weakly elevated, 1.1× broader than long, lateral furrows almost straight, hardly divergent backwards; eye in dorsal view 1.2× longer than temple, lateral sides of head weakly curved and dilated (Fig. 6b). Antenna short and stout, 0.8× of vein C, relative length of antennomeres about 8: 5: 20: 15: 14: 9: 8: 7: 8, apical three antennomeres distinctly compressed, seventh antennomere about 1.8× longer than broad (Fig. 6d). Mesoscutellum roundly elevated, posterior slope much longer than anterior slope; distance between cenchri 1.8× the longest axis of a cenchrus. Hind basitarsus 0.75× length of tarsomeres 2–5 together; claw with inner tooth quite short, about 0.6× length of outer tooth. Vein R+M in forewing about half length of first abscissa of Rs, lower outer corner of cell 2Rs weakly extended, vein 2r joining cell 2Rs slightly beyond middle, 2m-cu interstitial to 1r-m. Petiole of anal cell in hind wing very short, about 0.14× length of vein cu-a. Ovipositor sheath 1.4× length of metabasitarsus, apical sheath as long as basal plate, subtriangular at apex in lateral view (Fig. 6g); in dorsal view sheath about 2× as wide as cercus, setae on lateral sides of sheath short, weakly curved at apex. Lancet with 20 serrulae, membrane between 8th and 9th serrulae about 0.6× length of a serrula, middle serrulae weakly oblique, each with 2 proximal and about 10 distal subbasal teeth, 7th and 8th serrulae as in Fig. 6h.
Male: Unknown.
Etymology: The species is named after the collector of the types.
Specimen examined: Holotype, Ƥ, Longtangshan (118º54.050´E, 30º06.680´N, alt. 930 m), Mt. Qingliangfeng, Zhejiang Province, 27 April, 2010, Zejian Li (CSCS). Paratype: 1Ƥ, same data as the holotype (CSCS).
Distribution: China (Zhejiang).
Remarks: This new species can be easily recognized from its congeners by the shallowly incised clypeus, the broad malar space, the short metabasitarsus and the black maculae on abdominal tergites 3–8 extending to ventral side of abdomen.
