Notiothereva aurea View in CoL spec. nov.

( Figs. 16–22 View FIGURES 16 – 29 , 44).

Etymology. aureum (Latin, noun) = gold. This species epithet refers to the abundant gold setae on the mesonotum and scutellum and is used as a noun in apposition.

Diagnosis. Like Notiothereva albiventris and N. simulata in having the frontal setae extending lateral to antennal base; parafacial with setae; gena lacking anterodorsal patch of short, dark setae. Like N. albiventris in having dorsocentral macrosetae; halter dark brown; tibia dark yellow, apex dark reddish brown; setae on frons and parafacial predominately white; cell m 3 closed. It differs from N. albiventris in having the mesonotal setae black intermixed with gold, appressed setae; setae on scutellum gold; cervical sclerite setae white on lateral fourth; setae on male sternite 8 ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 16 – 29 ) absent medially on posterior margin; distiphallus not flattened dorsally ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 16 – 29 ), directed horizontally in lateral view ( Fig. 21 View FIGURES 16 – 29 ); female furca broad posteriorly ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 16 – 29 ).
