Protohermes vitalisi Navás View in CoL
( Fig. 16 View FIGURE 16 )
Protohermes vitalisi Navás, 1919 View in CoL . Mem. Acc. Nuovi Lincei 5: 17. Type locality: Tonkin.
Distribution. Vietnam.
Remarks. This species was described by Navás (1919) based on only one female specimen from Tonkin (northern Vietnam). His work lacked illustrations and any additional collection data. The type was said to be deposited in the Navás collection, which was moved to the Museo de Zoología in Barcelona. However, the type of this species is not presented in the neuropteran collection of Museo de Zoología in Barcelona. Dr. V. Monserrat check the collection thoroughly in this year and the type was not found. It is presumed destroyed or lost ( Monserrat, personal communication). This species was considered to be closely related to P. striatulus by Navás (1926), but based on the original description it appears to be more similar to P. stigmosus Liu, Hayashi & Yang, 2007 from southern Yunnan, China due to the presence of four paired prothoracic spots in P. v i t a l i s i and five paired in P. stigmosus .
