The original spelling of this specific epithet is " melane " ( Bates 1888). Subsequently, some authors have spelled the name as " melanae " without explanation ( Endrődi 1966, 1985a, Ratcliffe 1992a, 2002a, 2003, Croat 1997, Moore and Jameson 2013).
