Lectotype: Female, “[ Chile], La Ligua (Aconcagua) [currently Petorca], C. E. Porter, ix.1909.18” “ Echthropsis porteri Brèthes ” “ Echthropsis porteri , Lectotypus, Tow´65”. [MACN-En 34794].

Paralectotypes: 2 males, same data as lectotype. [MACN-En 34795 and 34796] .

Comments: There is another male specimen not cited in original type series, but that bears a cotype label. According to the ICZN Code, this specimen is not a type. Lectotype designated by Townes & Townes (1966).

Current status: Grotea gayi (Spinola, 1851) .
