Type material. Male holotype from Panama, Canal Zone, Barro Colorado Island (9.15, -79.85), I.1936, J.A. Griswold coll., deposited in MCZ 79100. Paratypes: 1 female from same locality of holotype, 30.XII.1935, J.A. Griswold coll., deposited in MCZ 79097 ; 1 male and 1 female from same locality of holotype, 18.I.1958, A.M. Chickering coll., deposited in MCZ 79089 and 79090 .
Etymology. The species name is a toponym in apposition referring to the type locality.
Diagnosis. Males of Kiekie panamensis ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 A–B) resemble those of K. sarapiqui ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 A–B) by the shape of embolus and RTA, but can be distinguished by the shape of the median apophysis, with a narrow base and larger apically, with the cup-shape opening visible in ventral view. The females resemble those of K. sarapiqui ( Fig. 8C View FIGURE 8 ) by the shape of the epigynum, but can be distinguished by the slightly narrow plate of the median field ( Fig. 13C View FIGURE 13 ). Internally, the position and shape of the copulatory ducts of K. panamensis ( Fig. 13D View FIGURE 13 ) are similar to K. sarapiqui ( Fig. 8D View FIGURE 8 ), but the first can be distinguished by the smaller spermathecae.
