Variation. Based on the examined specimens, this species is without band on the base of clypeus ( Nielson 1977: 34, Fig. 71 View FIGURES 70 – 84 ) in Yunnan or with a shallow V-shaped orange band ( Figs. 217 View FIGURES 214 – 223 ) in Yunnan, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Guangxi.
Remarks. This species was placed in the genus by Nielson (1977), and described from the holotype (female) from BMNH. It is similar to T. philagroides (Jacobi, 1914) , T. bispina Zhang, 1990 , T. conica Zhang, 1990 and T. birama Zhang, 1994 in external morphology. The style is bifurcate ( Fig. 221 View FIGURES 214 – 223 ), but differs in having three to four processes ( Figs. 209, 211–213 View FIGURES 202 – 213 ; Nielson 1977: 36, Fig. 79 View FIGURES 70 – 84 ) in T. philagroides ; T. projecta has the paraphysis without process ( Fig. 221 View FIGURES 214 – 223 ), but two basal processes are present in T. bispina ( Figs. 33, 36 View FIGURES 26 – 37 ); the ventral processes of segment X are short, with one small spine distally in T. projecta ( Fig. 218 View FIGURES 214 – 223 ), while in T. conica this pair of processes are long, slender, and pointed distally ( Fig. 54 View FIGURES 50 – 59 ); and the shape of the paraphysis, style and ventral processes of segment X are different in both T. birama and T. projecta ( Figs. 21, 23 View FIGURES 16 – 25 , 219, 221 View FIGURES 214 – 223 ).
