( Figs. 5, 6 View FIGURES 1–8 , 11 View FIGURES 9–12 , 15 View FIGURES 13–16 , 19, 21 View FIGURES 17–22 , 24 View FIGURES 23–26 )

Diagnosis. Ground color light brown with yellow spots; clypeus yellow with dense silvery bristles; all metasomal segments brown with distinct distal yellow bands; all tarsi yellow; posterior ocelli close, separated by a distance less than or equal to one ocellar diameter; occipital carina hardly developed; inner hind tarsal claw with tip rounded and expanded.

FEMALE DESCRIPTION. Length of the wing: 12 mm. head in frontal view as high or slightly higher than wide (FHH/INTOW: 1.00–1.11); clypeus as higher than wide (HCLP/WCLP: ca. 1.11), apex narrowly rounded; upper free portion of lateral margin relatively long and straight in its course to tentorial pit; this closer to the inner margin of the eye than to the antennal socket; malar space narrow; occipital carina hardly developed, adjacent area blackened; posterior ocelli close, separated by a distance less than or equal to one ocellar diameter; (POL/ OOL: 0.40–0.50); anterior margin of pronotum medially with lamella wide and reflexed, without secondary margin immediately behind; pronotum with lateral fovea; pronotal carina continuous from side to side, not lobed on the humeral region, angularly elevated at center; mesoscutum as long as wide (LMS/WMS: ca. 1.00); lateral margin adjacent to tegula with well-developed lamella; median sulcus of the propodeum narrow, occupying little more than half of the propodeal dorsum, with a weak median keel and transverse striae; hind leg inner tarsal claw with tip rounded and expanded; first metasomal segment not noticeably elongated (LSI/HMP: ca.1.00), approximately 2.6 times wider at the apex than at the base, and ca. 0.47X the length of the segment; forewing little elongated (LDIS/ HMP: ca. 2.35).

Sculpture. Integument with fine dense granulation; surface of the clypeus with very fine granulation, apical region reticulate; frons, mesopleuron and propodeum with granulate aspect similar to the clypeus; mesoscutum, scutellum and metanotum with granulation coarser.

Vestiture. Clypeus with long and dense silvery bristles, also with some sparser erect orange ones; gena with short bristles becoming more numerous and dense on the ventral posterior part; mesoscutum, scutellum, mesopleuron and legs with abundant short bristles; metasoma with dense, short oblique bristles.

Color. Ground color light brown; antenna brown ventrally (lighter at apex), with dorsal surface blackish; whole clypeus, band adjacent to the inner margin of the eye at the level of the ocular sinus (sometimes expanding to antennal area), two small spots on the upper portion of the interantennal space, large mark on mandible, narrow elongated stripe adjacent to the outer margin of the eye, two evanescent median stripes on the mesoscutum, narrow transversal mark on the anterior region of scutellum, anterior region of metanotum, paired spots on propodeum, spots on upper metapleural plate, stripes on mid and hind coxae, apical mark on femora, and tibiae, all three tarsi, metasoma ventrally (sometimes indistinctly banded), dorsally there are distal transverse bands on metasomal terga 1–5, tergum 6 entirely, yellow or pale yellow; frontal and posterior aspects of femora and tibiae, painted of very light yellowish brown (letting dorsal and ventral darker elongate marks); posterior triangular mark on mesoscutum, disk of scutellum, propodeal sulcus, black. Wings hyaline, venation brown, pterostigma yellowish.

Variation. A callow specimen presents less defined limits between areas of different color, and especially the yellow marks are less developed.

Distribution. Brazil: Pará ( Fig. 27 View FIGURE 27 ).

Paratypes: 2 ♀, Brazil, Pará , São Félix do Xingu, Rio Pardo (ICMBio), 05º46’18.9”S, 52º37’52.7”W, 25.iv.2012 (S.S. Silva) (respectively MPEG. HHY 03033616 View Materials , and MPEG. HHY 03036433 View Materials ) GoogleMaps .

Etymology. The specific epithet is a reference to the Gorotire, an indigenous people (part of the Kayapó) inhabiting the region of Southern Pará state, close to the Xingu River, in Brazil.

Remarks. The species is described based on three specimens from nearby sites and, although with some color variation (probably related to age of individuals), there are some constant and distinctive color features that support our decision on specific status. Among the species with the inner hind tarsal claw expanded and clypeus narrow with whitish or silvery bristles, M. gorotire is the only one with the metasomal segments banded.
