Notes

Colonies with a range of growth forms; in this survey, mostly massive. This genus is easily recognised by the long, fleshy polyps that are extended day and night. Maximum recorded size: 1 m across. Corallites between 2.2 and 5.0 mm in size. Alveopora appears very similar and, if in close view, can be distinguished by the number of polyp tentacles ( Goniopora : 24, Alveopora : 12) (Fig. 104 View Figure 104 ).
