The earliest record of the name Phaenocora minima can be found as “ Phaenocora spec. ( Phaenocora minima nov. spec.?)” in a work by Heitkamp in 1979. This work actually is a “Habilitationsschrift” with the title: “Zur Systematik, Biologie und Ökologie der Turbellarien periodischer und perennierender Kleingewässer Südniedersachsens.”. Such “Habilitationsschrifte” are unpublished works in the sence of Article 8 of the ICZN (1999). Later this work was published in a peer-reviewed journal, with some minor adjustments and with a different title (see Heitkamp 1982). The name Phaenocora minima does not occur in this work. Instead, the illustrations and the description of the “Habilitationsschrift” are reproduced in the 1982 publication under the heading Phaenocora spec., with the specific comment that it is not a new species (see Heitkamp 1982: 144). The name “ P. minima Heitkamp, 1979 ” (sic.) later appears in a paper by Farías et al. (1995). In the reference list of this paper, Farías et al. (1995) referred to the “original description” as “Heitkamp, U., 1979. Zur Systematik, Biologie und Ökologie der Turbellarien periodischer und perennierender kleingewässer Südniedersachsens. Arch. Hydrobiol. Suppl., 64: 65–188.”, which actually is a mixture of the year and title of the “Habilitationsschrift” and the journal, volume and pages of the peer reviewed article (see Heitkamp 1982). It is clear that the name P. minima has never been officially published, and hence is a nomen nudum.
