Remarks on Plagiodera pallida BALY, 1867
During this study, one of the authors (M.D.) examined the female type of Plagiodera pallida. It is an immature specimen in an imperfect state of preservation, and labelled “ Amboina ”. Because of its fragility it was not appropriate to dissect it to study the genital apparatus. The coloration is uniformly Yellow Ochre and the elytral punctures are irregular with two short symmetrical calli at the sides of the scutellum. The lateral callus of the elytra is raised, the trapezoidal thorax has uniformly curved sides, the apex of the prosternal appendix is a regular trapezoid shape, and the mesosternum has a wide deep groove in the middle. The penultimate tarsal article is entire, the claws are simple. All these characters place the new species in to the genus Plagiosterna (= Linaeidea ). Thus, we propose a new combination:
Plagiosterna pallida (BALY, 1867) n. comb.
Plagiosterna pallida is very similar to Plagiosterna (Xenolina) marginata JACOBY, 1904 from New Guinea which might be considered as a junior synonym.
