Species recognition. This species most closely resembles D. luteifrons , but has dense hairlike structures anterior to the process of the hind femur.
Description. Body length: 2.38 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, except light brown on anterior margin and around bases of setae, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 round, yellow. Palpus of normal size, yellow. Thorax: Scutum yellow. Scutellum yellow, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta one-half length of posterior seta. Pleuron whitish-yellow. Costa 0.48 wing length. Halter yellow. Legs mostly yellow. Forecoxa in lateral view whitish-yellow. Foretibia with setae not visible. Foretarsomeres 1–3 enlarged, slightly inflated. Midcoxa darker yellow. Hind coxa whitish-yellow. Hind coxal lobe yellow, moderately developed, truncate. Posterior face of hind femur with peglike setae in transverse basal group; more distally with shallow concavity and small, distally curved ventral process; anterior to process with extremely dense, thin hairlike processes, appearing as white foam in light microscopy ( Figs 53–54). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 yellow, tergites 2–6 yellow medially, anteriorly and posteriorly, dark brown laterally, with medial yellow area decreasing in every tergite posteriorly, but yellow predominating. Venter of abdomen whitish-yellow, with sparse setae. Male terminalia with epandrium yellowish-brown, hypandrium brown, and cercus yellow.
