Holotype. ♂, PANAMA: [La] Cabima , v.1911, A. Busck [ LACM ENT 171671 View Materials ] ( USNM; examined).

Species recognition. This species is distinguished by the forefemoral sensory organ, the single row of widely-placed peglike setae that are well-removed from the ventral margin of the hind femur, and the more apical carinate lobe. It is somewhat similar to D. ecitophila , but in that species the peglike setae are shorter, thicker, closer together, and closer to the ventral margin of the hind femur.

Description. Body length: 1.88–2.44 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 pyriform, brown. Palpus of normal size, brown. Thorax: Scutum dark brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta one-half length of posterior seta. Pleuron brown, but light brown medially. Mean costal length 0.59 wing length, range 0.56–0.61. Halter light brown. Legs mostly yellow. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Forefemur with anterobasal sensory organ, consisting of round bare patch surrounding a round pit full of tightly-packed setae ( Figs 325–326). Foretibia with 4–5 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa brown. Hind coxa yellow. Hind coxal lobe yellow, short, with ventral projection. Posterior face of hind femur with single row of well-spaced, peglike setae separated from ventral margin by large, triangular, setulose patch; more apically with truncate, carinate lobe; dorsal to peglike setae with group of five small, thin setae ( Figs 29–30). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 brown (shiny laterally), tergites 2–6 dark brown except 6 lighter and shiny. Venter of abdomen brown, with few longer setae on segment 5. Male terminalia brown, cercus yellow.
