Syntypes: ♂, ♀, CUBA: (Paris Museum; not examined) .
Species recognition. This species and D. sulcatula are the only New World species with thin, more dorsal setae on the hind femur. It differs from D. sulcatula by the yellow body color, and the peglike setae, which are few in number and grouped together ( Figs 25–26).
Distribution. Nearly worldwide, presumably spread by human activity.

TAIWAN: Green Island . THAILAND : Khao Yai National Park ; Chiang Mai:, Pa Huay Thong. USA : California: Topanga Canyon ; Hawaii: Honolulu ; Virginia: Springfield ; Washington: Olympia .
